Spring-Board Chess Academy was established in 2017 and is the current “flag-ship” program of Spring-Board Ministries.

The game of chess has proved to be a highly effective tool for social transformation for a number of reasons:

• Chess develops vital mental skills such as concentration, logical and creative thinking, making decisions under pressure, and, very importantly, it teaches the children to consider the consequences of their actions before they act.
• Chess develops vital life skills such as self-discipline and how to win and lose gracefully.
• Chess develops vital social skills as they interact in a healthy social environment.
• Chess opens the mind to possibility and opportunity as players develop, enter tournaments and pursue opportunities to play for their region and their country.

We  maintain a formal program of instruction to teach the game of chess and to promote the game in the community.  We also run tournaments and community programs based on chess.
